The institute recovers costs from the grants and projects used in the core facilities and this is reviewed regularly.  The hourly rates (in £) for the instruments and services within the core can be found here: 

Notes

1. For projects anticipated to cost more than £2K CRUK, Charity, WT and EC/ERC can only be applied to grants held by CRUK CI. Researchers from the University who anticipate spending over £2K can transfer a budget to an SW held code to access these rates (SWAK).
2. Funds held within GL accounts, commercial companies or grant accounts outside of Cambridge University will need to use the F.I.R rate. Please continue to discuss any grant application costing or planning with a member of the appropriate Core Facility. The F.I.R affiliation should be applied to work where the funs used for payment are held outside of Cambridge University, held in a Cambridge University general ledger (GL) account or from a commercial organisation.
3. This is the rate for the all hours after 3 hours of continuous usage.
4. Rate only applied when the MP Laser is used in addition to the Stellaris 8. Instrument named Leica Stellaris 8 + MP laser on PPMS will be charged at the Stellaris 8 rate if the MP Laser is not in use.
5. When the core facility team runs equipment on the behalf of the user, the suer will be charged an additional £34 or £38 per hour for their time (depending on funding source).
