We have over 300 scientists in our building, from postdocs to professors. Our goal to create a world free from the fear of cancer attracts researchers from across a range of STEM backgrounds.

Our strength comes from the diversity of expertise that our scientists bring. To support our researchers, we take a personalised approach to career development and training. This includes bespoke training delivered by our state-of-the-art Core Facilities, as well as in-house mentorship schemes tailored to career stage and aspirations.

We foster a truly collaborative, interdisciplinary community with a range of opportunities to ensure everyone can share new ideas and encourage best practice. Our PostDoc Society delivers a programme of skills-focused and social events designed to meet the needs of this crucial career stage.

Events
Our annual Institute Retreat is an opportunity for everyone to gather and share their latest findings, form collaborations, discuss new developments in the cancer research field, and reflect on the past year of work. The Institute also hosts regular guest academics in our Seminars in Cancer and as well as our Career Inspirations lectures and weekly Wednesday Lunchtime Seminars.

Innovation and translation
Our scientists benefit from an established culture of innovation and translation. Over the last six years, our research has created 14 spin-out companies and generated more than 100 patents. We dedicate space on-site to incubate new start-ups and our new Office of Translation and Impact is designed to catalyse entrepreneurship by giving scientists direct support, guidance, and seed funding to support translation activities, impact measurement, and promotion.
