Join us at the world-leading CRUK Cambridge Institute. We’re a unique department of the University of Cambridge, core funded by Cancer Research UK’s charitable activities, and we’re eagerly searching for our new Academic Development Coordinator.
The Academic Development department is a pragmatic, dynamic, values-driven, and outcome-orientated team ¿ passionate about delivering the institute’s student strategy. Our team oversees the administration of a PhD programme and MPhil research programme in Medical Science, whilst coordinating internal development opportunities such as our Postgraduate Training Programme.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in the facilitation of this, with responsibilities including:

  • The provision of a responsive and high-quality administration service to the Academic Development department, escalating issues to senior members of the team where appropriate.
  • Taking the initiative in responding promptly to course-related queries and student enquiries, referring to colleagues as needed.
  • Supporting students as they prepare and deliver talks as part of the Institute’s ‘Lunchtime Seminar’ series, liaising with the events team in their scheduling.
  • Working with students to compile and deliver the Postgraduate Training Programme, including coordinating speakers, and advertising/promotion.
  • Liaise with stakeholders across the Institute to facilitate student support arrangements, including Thesis Advisory Committees and the appointment of Postgraduate Advisors.
  • Oversee assessment processes for the course, including coordinating the appointment of examiners (ensuring that eligibility criteria are met).
  • Organise and deliver a range of welcome events for new students, tailoring content to ensure a comprehensive induction to the Institute.
  • Acting as secretary to formal meetings focusing on postgraduate education, including those awarding prizes. Preparing the agenda and meeting papers, writing and circulating minutes, and taking necessary follow-up action.
  • Management of the student newsletter, ensuring students at every stage of study are kept up to speed with key academic milestones.
  • Collate and manage data from various sources and systems (such as the Cambridge Student Information System) to ensure the smooth running of the course, and quality student experience.
