My work focuses on spatial transcriptomics method development and optimisation. Primarily, I strive to optimise MERFISH on primary and metastatic cancer tissues, that underwent various upstream processing (from STPT, pre-fixed, agarose- or OCT embedded, or fresh frozen).

I employ MERFISH, a multiplexed technology that can detect hundreds to thousands of RNAs at subcellular resolution, train cell segmentation algorithms and use python data analysis pipelines to investigate the tumor microenvironment. I aim to contribute to a better understanding of cancer heterogeneity, metastasis, and therapy resistance. In-depth gene expression analysis of cancer samples, in combination with proteomics, will let us achieve extensive tumor annotation and work towards 3D cancer visualisation in VR.
