Pre-Clinical Genome Editing
Programme overview
We are excited to offer an opportunity for Year 12 students to gain hands-on experience within Pre-Clinical Genome Editing. This work experience placement aims to provide insight into the day-to-day activities and research we conduct, giving students a real feel for what it’s like to work in our field.
What will you do
During the placement students will have the chance to:
Learn about how we edit DNA using CRISPR, visit a tissue culture room, observe how we handle cells and count them as well as watch a CRISPR experiment. We will also look at how we analyse edited DNA using CRISPR using Sanger Sequencing.
You will learn how we CRISPR to make better models of cancer.
About the team
We specialise in using CRISPR technology to make models of cancer. Students will have the opportunity to explore the techniques and tools we use, such as tissue culture, microscopy, and sequencing analysis software.
What to expect
This placement is designed to be an immersive and interactive experience, allowing students to develop a better understanding of the work done in our department. Students should be prepared to engage actively and show enthusiasm for learning.
We look forward to welcoming students and providing them with a valuable experience!
