The CRUK funded Children’s Brain Tumour Centre of Excellence (CRUK-CBTCE), based at CRUK Cambridge Centre at the University of Cambridge (CRUK CC) and The Institute of Cancer Research, London (ICR) is seeking to recruit a Programme Manager to help facilitate the centre. The centre’s vision is to transform the way the world develops treatments for children with brain tumours and the CRUK-CBTCE will convene a critical mass of expert personnel, infrastructure and global collaborations in developmental and paediatric brain tumour biology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and preclinical and clinical trials. The Programme Manager will work directly with Professors Richard Gilbertson and Paul Workman (Centre co-leads), in coordinating internal resources to ensure the flawless execution of the multi-collaborative projects of the Centre.

The main role of the Programme Manager is to oversee the preclinical pipeline strategy of the Centre to accurately predict effective drugs for the clinic. The role will involve the coordination and communication of scientific data and experiments with research groups across the two lead centres and the International Children’s Brain Tumour Board (ICBTB) to ensure all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget. The Programme Manager will also serve as the senior administrator for the ICBTB, CRUK-CBTCE Summer Schools and Brain Tumour in the Mountains meetings.
Additional responsibilities will include monitoring of programme objectives against milestones, co-ordination of resources, meeting management and support to Centre Leads.

Applicants will ideally have a PhD in cancer biology or equivalent experience, have excellent organising skills and be able to communicate with multi-disciplinary scientific groups. Experience in mouse genetics and pre-clinical studies are desirable. In addition, they will have previous experience in project management and brain tumour research. Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, a systematic and rigorous approach to work, and the ability to work in a team.

We are seeking applications for a Programme Manager position to develop and lead a research team aimed at understanding the basic biology and/or preclinical therapeutics of paediatric brain tumours, and/or using accurate preclinical models to develop new therapies for these devastating diseases.
