Would you like to be part of an Institute that works hard every day to get one step closer to winning the battle against Cancer, then this role may be for you.

You will become part of the Cambridge Institute community reporting into the Operations Finance Manager and will support the Head of Department, Principal Investigators and all staff in the Institute by providing a largely autonomous accounts administrative service, in order to achieve accurate input, working within specified guidelines and against tight deadlines. We pride ourselves on working together to provide high standards of customer service to everyone that comes through our door.

We are looking for someone who has previous experience of working within a finance team. We are open to applications from those who are AAT qualified or part way through their studies. Either way we can provide the support and training you need to achieve your own personal development goals.

This is a varied and interesting role involving liaison with a wide variety of staff at all levels. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring expenditure placed to the Group Leader’s and other General Ledger accounts, matching reimbursements to expenditure, correcting errors and providing a monthly reconciliation whilst ensuring the accounts do not go into deficit.

  • Provide monthly reports for Group Leaders and Core Facility Heads, analysing data and identifying any causes of variance between actual spend v budget.

  • Reconciling monthly statements for both credit card and major suppliers.

  • Ad Hoc daily queries, via phone, email and in person.

  • Completing monthly journals and invoicing both external customers and other University Departments.

  • Assisting the procurement team at peak times with approvals of requisitions and providing them with guidance on more complex orders.

As a department within the University of Cambridge the successful applicant will benefit from the stability that comes from such a world-renowned Institution. They will also have access to a broad selection of staff benefits and personal development opportunities including discounts at a wide range of local and national businesses available exclusively to University of Cambridge employees.
