Richard gained a BSc. in Applied Biology and a PhD in Plant Molecular Biology from the University of Hertfordshire and subsequently spent five years working in the commercial agricultural biotechnology sector. 

Since 2002 Richard has worked on understanding the behaviour of intestinal stem cells in the Winton lab in Cambridge, primarily designing, constructing and characterising novel transgenic mouse models.  More recently he has developed skills in bioinformatics to complement some of our high-throughput sequencing based analysis.
