Luis is a biologist, geneticist and bioinformatician from Costa Rica who loves science and art. He began his PhD in the Creixell lab at CRUK-CI in 2022, where he is currently trying to elucidate the evolution of the molecular mechanism behind tyrosine kinases specificity by using ancestral sequence reconstruction and protein resurrection. Moreover, he is combining genetics, biochemistry, and bioinformatics in order to characterise the molecular pockets of several tyrosine kinases that are oncogenic drivers of paediatric brain cancer in order to design less toxic and more efficient therapeutic hits.
