Congratulations to and , who have both been awarded prizes by Cancer Research UK.

Bruce has been awarded Cancer Research UK’s 2013 Lifetime Achievement in Cancer Research Prize, for his successful role in establishing the CRUK CI and developing it into a world-class cancer institute. The prize committee also commended Bruce’s research achievements, particularly his role in establishing the infrastructure for large-scale genome-wide association studies in breast cancer.

Nitzan has been awarded the 2013 future leaders in cancer research prize, for his work on molecular and computational diagnostics. His group have recently published a series of papers on using circulating tumour DNA to monitor cancer progression and treatment.

Both will be awarded their prizes at a session at this year’s , which is taking place from 3-6 November in Liverpool. In addition, Bruce will be giving a special plenary lecture after the ceremony.
