A former molecular biologist, Dr. Rayner has many years experience in bioinformatics and computational biology, applied across a wide variety of subject areas. Recent posts have emphasized statistical analysis of post-genomic data coupled with the development of software, algorithms and bespoke database systems in collaborative partnerships with clinicians and other research scientists. He is currently investigating the evolutionary origins of piRNA loci in mammals, and the contribution of the epigenome to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma.
